Everyone enjoys a good celebration. Whether you’re a young traveler or someone who just likes having a good time while soaking up some tropical sun, then finding the perfect party island will be important to you. There are countless tropical destinations in the world and all of them are beautiful, however, not all of them offer the party atmosphere you may be looking for.

One of the best locations to discover crazy party islands is in Greece. Visitors flock to the country for its cool weather, stunning beaches, warm waters, and great parties. The top two places to party are Ios and Corfu. Corfu is located on the west coast of Greece. There are regular beach parties outside of the famed Atlantis nightclub and vacationers all seem to stay at the notorious Pink Palace. During the day people soak up the warm Mediterranean sun and then party all night long.

Ios see a lot of travelers who want to do one thing: party. Ios is not only a party island but it is also beautiful and filled with culture (Homer was from here!). The island has a lot of tropical beaches with crystal clear blue water. At night, everyone comes out for some great seafood and Greek dining before spending the evening doing body shots of each other and waking up on the beach. Most party goers end up staying out until sun rise and sleep it off while getting a tan during the day. This is an island for the night owl.

For those looking to get out of the Mediterranean, you can head over to Southeast Asia and the islands of Bali and Ko Phangan. Bali is one of the most popular destinations in the world. Located in Indonesia, this huge island has a bit of everything. And those looking for a party will find it on Kuta beach. Besides great surfing, this spot is known for its beach parties and excessive nightlife. Here the tourists get loud, get down, and get crazy. It’s a cheap destination making it really popular among backpackers, Aussies, and Kiwis. After you burnt yourself out at night, treat yourself to a nice massage during the day.

The original ‘Black Moon Culture’ party is another of the island’s outdoor events located at Mac bay Resort on a Beach in Ban Tai with flourescent decorations with resident DJs playing progressive beats and underground trance. Again, many people say they prefer it than the FMP as there are normally less people giving it a more friendly vibe.

The Black Moon Party has only one DJ deck but as its on the beach you can always go for a swim if you don’t like the tunes!

Black Moon Party is a night party like the Full Moon Party , but it’s smaller and its location is on Baan Tai Beach; with amazing decor, a super sandy venue, driving progressive beats & underground trance. Koh Phangan Black Moon Party Party is held once a month on dark moon night. About 300-500 of tourists from around Koh Phangan are gathered every month. Experience the essence of Koh Phangan’s music, art and culture. Located at the beautiful sandy beach at Mac Bay Resort. International DJ lineup every month with special guests. Hand made fluro decorations by ‘Magic Phangan’ family.

The Black Moon Party happens approximately 14 days before (or after) the infamous Full Moon Party. Unlike the Full Moon Party, there is only one sound system and Djs follow each other all night long playing their own tunes on the deck. Don’t expect a Free-Party, as most of the parties, apart from the Full Moon Party, have now an entry fee. But don’t worry as it’s still affordable to all, as only 300 THB will be asked, and it includes one free drink.

The music here is barely exclusively Techno Trance, for the pleasure of the crowd there, which loves it! And the atmosphere follows with a totally trippy scenery design, 100% psychedelic, with fluo paintings and cotton weavings arranged everywhere on the ground and in the trees and glowing with the black lights. A very good party, especially during the high season, when high quality international Djs are invited to play. It’s a favorite among ravers, as it’s still on the beach, but much closer to free-parties than the Full Moon Party.

Historically, this party was not as popular as the Full Moon Party or the Half Moon Party as it was deemed not to be as professionally set up as the others. However, many things have changed, progressed and been upgraded at the Black Moon Party so it’s definitely worth a visit! So after seeing the markets, playing at haggling and riding in some tuk-tuks (asian open-air taxis), it was time to leave Bangkok and start our island-hopping adventure. But before leaving the city we had a morning trip to see the floating markets: a series of narrow canals with market stalls on either side of the water as well as on boats. A very attractive venue full of deliciously overpriced produce and deliciously well-priced soup (I love you tom-yum!). Koh Phanang is know for it's lunar-schedule parties. We planned to come here for a Black Moon party. Our travel agent Joe promised us a Black Moon party. Our tickets had us LEAVING on the day of the Black Moon party. Screw you Joe. Not a total loss though. The beach where the Black Moon party takes place has a party every night. Our evening went something like: empty beach party, empty pool party, drinking, crowded pool party, dancing, crowded beach party, drinking, dancing, crowded foam party, dancing, fire party, dancing, pancakes, home. For those not acquainted with foam parties, imagine slowly dumping 50 kg of soap into a laundry machine that is has a constant flow of water and an over-active agitatory. 3m of bubbles covering a 10m2 plot. One of Team Canada spontaneously evolved into a foam based creature and spent the whole night hunting the bubbly depths. Awesome Asian BBQ. Imagine a large pan with a softly peaked-centre and surrounding trough (like an inverted doughnut) placed on a pile of glowing embers. Grab meat / fish / other to grill on the peak. Fill the trough with soup broth and slowly simmer vegetables and noodles. Very hands-on. Very fun. Came with one scoop of free ice-cream! Accommodation was at the top of a hundred steps, which were at the peak of a hill, which was through a maze of streets. Luckily our accomodation sent a guide to meet us at the docks. The guide muled a single-axle baggage wagon so we didn't have to carry our crap -- thanks! We found out later that the baggage wagon could also...
