Killarney – Tuesday 11th May, 2010 – Those who headed into The Lane Café Bar at The Ross last Friday, were greeted with the phrase ‘Ola Amigos – a night that was not to be missed!!

One of Killarney’s most popular hot spots once again became cocooned in another of its fantastic events. Last Friday 7th, The Lane Café Bar in The Ross held a ‘Mexican Summer Party BBQ’ – an outstanding evening! Locals alike flocked into The Lane to enjoy food & drink amongst a lively folk who had dressed up for the occasion. Rifles & Multi-coloured Sombreros did not go unnoticed.

Those who attended tucked into a choice of Cancun Sizzle Burgers, Chicken Salsa Burgers and Nachos with Chilli Con Carne. Others sipped on Margeritas and Tequila with Lemon as they chatted amongst friends. The resident DJ impressed the crowd whilst playing a Mexican Summer Mix from ‘La Bamba’ to ‘Walking on Sunshine’. In addition to this, Don Juan O’Connor delighted the guests with a gun sling which provided a special lane tequila mix for each of the tables. An unforgettable and fun evening was had by all in colourful and friendly surroundings.

Pattaya, the 3rd of  May 2010 [PDN]: The Chonburi Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Khun Niti Kongrut, Pattaya’s City Mayor, Khun Itthiphol Khunplome, leading city personalities, VIP guests and members of the media were amongst those who thoroughly enjoyed this classy party.

When I arrived, I remarked that the Pullman hotel looked vaguely familiar, and so it should, because it was formerly north Pattaya’s well known “Aisawan Hotel,” so the name change and refurbishing has made it more internationally known. Many decades ago Pullman hotels were a household name in five star hotels, standing for the absolute best and superior service.

This was a white “dress Code” party at the “Beach Club,” which features indoor and outdoor dining, incorporating two separate outdoor pools, with each having beach and pool bars in one continuous design. There are cool cocktails, salads, grilled items and even ice cream, so this is an ideal “chill out” spot in a very relaxing atmosphere.

These “White Session” nights are held at the beginning of every month, with new and different themes each month. You can indulge yourself to the limit with a wide selection of fine drinks, and the international food is absolutely superb. With so many important guests, the “White Session” launch night was highly organized, with the local and international food prepared on the spot in their “open kitchen” being absolutely faultless.

Attached, because then they’d be far too weird for me to deal with- made reference to some sort of “Buddyhead” thing that they would “see me at.”

When people who talk a lot say things I don’t understand, such as “see you at the Buddyhead thing,” I tend to just kinda filter it out, reasoning that if it’s really that important or interesting, I’ll hear it again and again until I’m finally motivated to Google it or whatever. Social Darwinism. And this was the case with the Buddyhead thing. After hearing about it over and over again, one day when I got a text from a really nice dude I see at almost every single show I go to- no matter where in the country it is- telling me that tickets to the Buddyhead thing were on sale online for ten bucks, I finally gave in. I asked what the fuck this Buddyhead thing was. I was led eventually to a flyer promoting “The Umpteenth Buddyhead Holiday Ho Ho Hodeo” featuring Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age, The Entrance Band, Dean Fertita of the Raconteurs, Xu Xu Fang, Aaron North and Alessandro Cortini of Nine Inch Nails, Jeordie ‘Twiggy’ White of Marilyn Manson, Sweethead, Tony Bevilacqua of Spinnerette, Nick Jago of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and a bunch of other really interesting sounding artists. I was sold. With doors to the very chill Hotel Café opening at seven, it seemed like a fine way to spend an evening.

We got there before seven, and the doors didn’t open until eight or so. Everyone in Hollywood smokes, and we must have gotten two packs’ worth of secondhand standing around with the hipsters, trying not to hear the stupid Hollywood shit they were talking about- which friend of which friend is in which band now and what scene royalty they were most recently mingling with.
