Regionally the Balearics were only topped by the Canary Islands.

The Endura team are based at Palmanova, a few bays along from Palma, and just short of package holiday Mecca Magaluf. It sits on a sweep of pale sandy beach washed by the turquoise waters of the med. Of course, right now, it's out of season. Restaurants and...

Ibiza Rocks presents MALLORCA ROCKS HOTEL - Ibiza Spotlight Forums

London, 11 November: It was announced today at the World Travel Market at London’s ExCel that Ibiza Rocks will further expand the brand with the opening of a second destination concept hotel next summer. The 330 room Mallorca Rocks Hotel, situated in Magaluf, will be based on the same successful model as the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, encapsulating a whole lifestyle under one roof, including up to six gigs at the hotel during it’s opening season. As the unrivalled innovator of Ibiza’s live music scene, Ibiza Rocks has challenged and changed perceptions of Ibiza since launching controversially in 2005. Now an institution on the island and one of Europe’s hottest music events, Ibiza Rocks consistently boasts an A-list live line up which has previously included MGMT, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Vampire Weekend, The Enemy and Dizzee Rascal, plus breakthrough bands and cutting edge DJ’s. The Ibiza Rocks Hotel opened its rock ‘n’ roll doors in 2008 and quickly became THE biggest youth hotel on the island, offering flexible travel packages and putting guests at the epicentre of the action for the weekly live gigs. Shortlisted for ‘Best Overseas Festival’ at this years’ UK Festival Awards, it’s a double celebration as Ibiza Rocks announce its new arrival. Magaluf is the biggest youth resort in the Mediterranean and it’s about to get its biggest makeover! The live music line up at the Mallorca Rocks Hotel (formerly Hotel Tropico Magaluf) will be revealed early next year and like the flagship Ibiza Rocks Hotel, guests can expect to see some of the world’s best acts playing live under the stars in the hotel’s courtyard plus quality daytime entertainment throughout the summer. Eventually, the gigs will run weekly and many of the acts booked will perform at both Mallorca Rocks and Ibiza Rocks within 48 hours . Whilst Ibiza Rocks will retain its role of booking cutting edge DJ’s and breakthrough bands as well as established acts in order to cater for its music savvy crowd, Mallorca Rocks will initially focus more on higher profile festival acts, in the aim of creating a regular, quality live event in Magaluf and rejuvenating the islands music scene. Hotel visitors can also expect the best in daytime entertainment and partnerships with established club brands are expected to be announced shortly. Andy McKay, Promoter said: “We are an unrivalled youth focused brand, providing great quality accommodation and entertainment at great value. Most of all, we provide something relevant to a new generation of live music loving holidaymakers. Having pioneered the social rejuvenation of Ibiza with Ibiza Rocks, we want to emulate this success in Mallorca and make quality live music much more accessible, giving our target audience better value, flexible travel and ultimately, more choice.” Yeah, you heard that right - one of Ibiza Rocks' favourite bands will be heading back to the Balearics this summer to open our brand new Mallorca Rocks hotel. We grew up together, the band playing Ibiza Rocks in the very first year when we were just a newborn festival and they were unsigned and unknown so who better to kick off our new adventure? Live the rock and roll lifestyle right in the centre of Magaluf at the Mallorca Rocks Hotel!.Beautiful bodies, live bands as Dizzee Rascal, Kasabian, MGMT, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks and Calvin Harris, the permanent stage set within the courtyard will host major live concerts during the summer 2010 with international stars playing the 6th June , on 5th July , 19th July , 26th July and 6th September so you can expect the best in international talent....

Mallorca Hotels and the S'albufera Nature Reserve

My boyfriend and I are massive fans of wild life and we really like a whole host of animals. That’s why when we go to Mallorca, we want to go to the nature reserve there. Apparently it is the most important wetland in the whole of the Balearic Islands, and had over 230 different species of birds staying there. I feel like its good to support places like that, because without them, who knows where our animals would be. We have looked at Mallorca hotels near the area, so we can get early access to the sanctuary every morning, or at least when I want to go.

alcudiapollensa: Soft Toilet Paper: Gay hotels

In the Comic Strip's brilliant pastiche of spaghetti Westerns, "A Fistful Of Travellers' Cheques", the proprietor of Hotel Bastardos, Keith Allen, informs his gun-toting guests, Rik Mayall and Peter Richardson, that if they "want de soft-a toilet paper" they should "go to Hotel Gay Boy". Back in the eighties when this was made, the likelihood of there being a hotel gay boy in non-urban Spain was probably very low. It isn't much higher nowadays, in Mallorca at any rate. A hotel bastardos on the other hand ... . Mallorca has never seemed, to me, to rank particularly highly as a sun-holiday destination for gay people. Certainly not by comparison with Ibiza or Gran Canaria. Away from Palma, there are few by way of specifically gay venues. A bar did start up in Can Picafort in the autumn of 2008. It may still be there, but there is no obvious information about it. In Palma there are clubs and saunas, but the image of gay life in the capital took a bit of a knock as a result of the scandal involving a Palma councillor and rent boys. Otherwise you tend to be unaware of there being much of a gay scene. profiles the first hotel in Mallorca which is specifically aimed at a gay and lesbian sun-and-beach market. It is in Playa de Palma and is called Pegasus. Aptly perhaps. The Spanish tourism ministry wants to let fly the winged horse of gay and lesbian tourism. Spain, and presumably therefore Mallorca, should be a leader in this niche, it believes. The fact that the pink pound or euro is worth approximately 50% more than straight wonga might have something to do with this, while the government is keen to cash in - as it were - on the new liberalism of Spain towards homosexuality. Mallorca is essentially a "family" destination. Its resorts can be described similarly. But the description can appear to exclude other "markets" - single people, couples, senior citizens, gay people. The family is hugely important, but it is not the only market. It is right that provision is shifting...

Mallorca Holidays – List of Top 5 Places You Must Visit When on ...

People from all across the world and especially so from northern Europe have been coming to Mallorca for years now, first succumbing to the nightlife of Palma however at the moment people come here to enjoy the more peaceful side of the Island. Here are top 5 places to look at when you visit the island.

Palma Cathedral: Located inside the town of Palma Mallorca is one of Spain’s best examples of gothic architecture. It stands tall in a dazzling waterfront and is made from golden sandstone; the stunning inside is emphasized by floodlights sifting through the tinted glass panes. A preferred with photographers and is one of the most photographed sites in Mallorca.

Valldemossa: Located in the hills just south of Miramar this charming historic stone town has a gorgeous monastery that one time was a home to Chopin as well as George Sand. Constructed way back in the early fourteenth century, the monastery is the second most visited tourist spot after Palma Cathedral and is any artist’s dream from a distance. There are a number of good restaurants to have a nice meal. In addition, you will come across a number of Mallorcan holiday villas to rent in close proximity.

Platja de Palma: This extensive clean sandy coast is situated close to the islands capital and is perhaps the most crowded place to go around on the island and spend time. It can get jam-packed, because there are quite a lot of local holiday apartments to rent in close proximity. Therefore, if you plan to stay for a short time in that case Palma’s nearby huge seaside is more than enough.

Peninsula de Formentor: Located at the north east of the land mass away from Port de Pollenca you will come across the serrated mountains and steep falls of Peninsula de Formentor. Gliding down to one of Mallorca’s best seashores as well as hotels, this makes for an excellent outing if you have a rented automobile. You can catch a yacht from Port de Pollensa to keep away from the crowds during the peak tourist period of the year. The beautifully styled Hotel Formentor is worth a stopover for a drink or perhaps an extensive stay if you have the resources. Your Mallorca Holidays would not be considered complete without seeing this.

One thing you may consider is to visit Menorca to swim in one the many coves ( Calas ) this attractive little Island has to offer. Quite a lot of them are only accessible via the sea and their position only given away by the yachts and small craft anchored
